Moving Your Business From Point A To Point B

Moving To A New Commercial Property? Prepare Your Staff With These Things

If you are moving commercial properties and you are overwhelmed by the amount of things that need to be done, there are some things you want to do for your staff. Staying organized is key if you want a smooth move, and if you don't want to delay productivity greatly.  If your staff has to clean out their offices, prepare their office, and help with the move, you want to give them the tools to do everything efficiently. Here are some things to have ready to go.

Recycling Bin and Dumpster

All of the old boxes, papers, files and other debris that can be recycled throughout the office space should go into a recycling bin. You may even want to pay to have some documents shredded. Other items that aren't used or are garbage and can't be donated or recycled should be tossed before the move. You don't want your staff taking junk or items that aren't needed to the new space. Instead, be sure that you have a dumpster already ready to fill before the move.

Provide Moving Supplies

Provide moving supplies far in advance so that your staff can start packing up their items when they have some down time. They are more likely to get the packing completed if you drop the boxes, tape, labels, and other items they need than if you ask them to get the supplies from a common area. They can even haul the boxes to a common are if needed, so they can be loaded if everything is going on one truck. Special packing may be required for electronics or other valuable items.

Professional Movers

Save money on labor during the move by allowing your staff that is already on payroll to do the packing, and let the professional and experienced movers load and lift everything. They can put everything in the truck and do all of the actual moving, and then unload the office supplies at the new commercial space. This makes the moving process easy, and your staff only has to worry about unpacking their items at the other end of the move.

A commercial move can cause a lot of chaos, but if you do these things, you can get rid of a lot of the stuff that is currently in your office and minimize what goes to the new building. Get these things arranged and prepare for the big day.
