Moving Your Business From Point A To Point B

Determining The Best Pump For Your New Well

Installing a new water well on your property is an excellent option for residential water, and in areas with a good aquifer under them, it is very dependable. Once the well is in place, you will need to decide what kind of pump you will install to move the water to your home.

Submersible Well Pumps

The most common well pumps are submersible pumps installed at the bottom of the well that push the water up and out through a water line to the pressure tank in your home. This system works well for most wells and is commonly installed by the well drilling company for you once the job gets finished, but a well pump installation service may sometimes do it. It is crucial that the pump used in the well is appropriate for the job, and a well that is a little sandy may require a pump with a sand separator screen on it to keep sand out of the pump and out of the water coming into your home. The pump also needs enough power to push the water up the line without training the pump's motor. The well pump installation service should look at all these situations for you, but don't be afraid to ask questions when the installer arrives to look at the well.

Deep Well Pumps

In some cases, the water well drilled on your property may need to be very deep to achieve that amount of water required to supply your home. The average well is around three hundred to three hundred and fifty feet deep, but there are times when the well needs to go much deeper, and a five hundred footwell is not as uncommon as people think. The problem with a deep well is that most standard well pumps can not provide enough lift to get the water to the top of the well from that depth without straining the motor. If you are dealing with a deep well, it is important to ask the well pump installation company about the pump they are planning on using and rated for a deep well.

Using a well pump that is too small for a deep well will eventually burn out the motor and probably far sooner than it should. Replacing a well pump is not a simple task, and if the well pump installation company has to pull the pump from a five hundred foot deep well and replace it, the cost will be high. Getting the right pump in the well in the first place will save you a lot of time, frustration, and money in the long run.
